Anti-wrinkle injections

For cosmetic purposes, Anti-wrinkle injections are used to relax facial muscles and eliminate the appearance of wrinkles. Anti-wrinkle injections also known as Botulinum toxin Type A is a naturally occurring protein that causes the muscles of the face to relax, consequently smoothing out wrinkles. It is the UK’s most popular cosmetic treatment for the removal of wrinkles.

Botulinum Toxin is a prescribed medication and therefore requires a full consultation with our Nurse Prescriber prior to treatment in clinic.

How does Botulinum Toxin work?

Botulinum Toxin works by blocking the signals in the brain from reaching the muscles that cause movement, so for a period of time, the muscle does not move.

It is injected in very small doses into specific muscles that cause wrinkles, most commonly wrinkles of the upper face such as frown lines, forehead lines and crows feet.

The result is smoother, younger looking skin.

Aftercare is as important as treatment, so it is essential your treatment is in a clinic that can offer ongoing medical support. Full aftercare will be given to you at the time of treatment.

Results are dependable on the individual, however generally Anti-Wrinkle Injections aim to last around 3-4 months. Effects can be experienced after approximately 2 days, with full effects taking up to 14 days.

The treatment is quick and relatively pain free, with a little redness post treatment, lasting approximately 30 minutes.

There is a small risk of bruising.
